Rain

RAIN

“Rain, rain, go away. Come again, another day.” This is a popular yell especially in our childhood days during rainy season: a yell that the Americans taught us. But we have also Filipino version of this, “Ulan, ulan, pantay kawayan! Bagyo, bagyo, pantay, kabayo!” But there’s nothing more on this but just a yell, to make our childhood days happy.

Rains are a part of our life. Surely, we cannot deny this fact. It affects us. If rain falls, most of our roads, especially those made of asphalt, become flooded. And because there’s a flood on most streets, many people, especially those coming from work and schools are stranded. Some money makers take this good opportunity for them to earn money. Many of them improvise bridges, and those who will cross them pay coins.

Yes, rain, causes flood. But the most dangerous are the stronger rains or typhoons, which sometimes cause loss of lives. Children are drowned, man incidentally steps on open manholes, weak houses are wrecked. These are some ill-effects that stronger rains cause. Some people also regard typhoons as a good time for evil motives.

Rain is one hope of the Fatherland. If there’s no rain, crops will die. Rice, which is the staple food of the Filipinos, will not grow. Irrigation system is not sufficient enough to support the farmers, especially the poor farmers who cannot afford to pay the electrification of irrigation. When rain comes, you can see the happiness in the face of farmers. You can feel the joy in their hearts, the joy that heaven gave them. rainy season is really important in their lives.

Many songwriters compose hit songs related to rain. Sometimes, they reflect their own experiences which are important and memorable to them. Some of them read, “Rain gently falls whenever we say goodbye...”. “Bakit ba naman ngayon pa umulan kung kelan ako dadalaw sa iyo...”, and the popular APO’s hit song “Pumapatak na naman ang ulan sa bubong ng bahay.”

Do you know that the first rain in rainy season is medicinal? According to the country old folks, rain cures a person who has bungang-araw, or skin irritations caused by prickly heat, stomach ache or diabetes. Maybe, the first rain is a good chaser for hard drinks, don’t you think so?
Rainy season is like a romance novel. In the provinces, many poor couples have lots of children. During rainy season, they deeply felt the coolness of nights, make sex, which made their wives pregnant.

During the rainy season, we feel the cold weather. Cold weather produces calm mind. Calm mind makes you think of an inspiration. If you have an inspiration, you can make a good impression, and it produces positive results or a positive outlook in life. Then you can make your dreams come true.
