HALLUCINATION OF CRIMES

Many crimes in our country are committed by persons under the influence of drugs. In the true-to-life movie "Visconde Massacre", two drug addicts massacred the Visconde family in ParaƱaque.

Even if the case is not really solved as of this writing, the only persons who can commit such dastard crimes are those who are under the influence of drugs, their mind is gravely disordered.

Regular intake of unusually high doses of drugs leads to addiction. Drug dependence or drug addiction connotes that the person behave unnaturally under the influence of drugs. Without drugs their behavior is greatly affected. They are restless and violent. They take more drugs that cause more harmful effects on the human mind and body.

If we analyze why people indulge in habit-forming drugs, there are many factors that we must consider. One is curiosity. In a group, one may take drugs due to "pakikisama". The other factor is the influence of the family. If one lacks parental love and affection or he feels rejected, lonely and depressed, he take drugs to forget his condition. Many persons believe that drugs can solve all their problems. Some wants to have self-confidence and to be satisfied. Some consider it a good trip to "heaven". They do not realize more problems they will have soon.

Drug addiction is a hard habit to break. In many cases, if the person has no money to support his habit, he resorts to criminal acts like theft, robbery which might lead to murder. He greatly suffers physiologically and psychologically. His behavior becomes abnormal. This is because of the great change in his body metabolism. His mind and feeling are already altered, affecting his physical health and mental alertness. Drug addicts suffer from faulty judgment and memory, weak will power, loss of interest in many activities, fear and depression. He sometimes neglects his personal hygiene including his regular meals and sleep. There are times he has so many nightmares and horrible visions that he can no longer withstand them. he resorts to violence or to committing suicide.

We must do something to solve this problem. As students we must take positive actions to prevent drug-related crimes where we or our loved ones maybe the next victim. We must prevent this from happening.

We must support the citizen drug watch and launch campaign to foil illegal drug entry by foreign, as well as local, syndicates. Yes, we can do something, but we must be determined, honest, hardworking, clever and tough. We must have the courage to face the consequences.

By the way, some popularly abused drugs are marijuana, shabu or poor man’s cocaine, hashise, heroin, cocaine and mogadon. It causes the person who takes it to become hyperactive, paranoid, has abnormal alertness and very aggressive, has psychological disorder, ready to kill. So beware!
